Following his critically acclaimed score for The Revenant with Alva Noto, Japanese composer and pianist, Ryuichi Sakamoto will be releasing the score to the Japanese film Nagasaki: Memories of My Son on September 23rd on Milan Records. The track here, Ghost: (Nagasaki : Memories of my son) is a reflective and personal work highlighted by some gorgeous piano work, and the typically sublime score also features deeper meditative pieces, with periodic ornate touches.
Milan Records will also be reissuing one of Sakamoto’s most famous scores, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence on October 24th as part of the Nicolas Winding Refn Presents series. The 1983 Nagisa Oshima-directed World War II film stars both David Bowie and Ryuichi Sakamoto and is a great film with an incredible score that you should definitely check out.
