Twisting The Frame 2

Illy Clap start the ball rolling reminiscent of heyday Wall Of Sound, rolling beats and catchy hooks, plus a neat intro. Duke Spook darkens the mood with “Dark Rites”, again with the dirty drums, minimal electronic blips and creaks, Klondike Kids “A Small Fortune” rides a flute and effected sax skank, like a strange 2tone/dub hybrid. Dark Circle flow with some vocal poetry, and a minimal backdrop of percussion and plucked guitar. sasQwax aka Wax Factor returns to form after too much silence with a moody “9til5”, a solid back beat, bass hook and not much else, but it works, perfectly. “Day Of Two Noons” by Jay Bharadia hints at something of a new sound, like a mix of Boards Of Canada and Dilla off kilter rhythms. Benjamin One, joined by Derth (Inc) and Wichcraft provide the second vocal cut, a percussive driven piece with subtle electronic undertones. Herma Puma fuse their jazz stylings with ghostly vocal snatches, cut and phased to create sweet melodies. Bob Villain serves up a dose of wonky future funk, keeping things minimal, but keeping the head nodding. Aupheus bring “Metamorphic” with dirty ass drums, growling synths and menacing ghostly voices, dark, could be a name to watch. E.A.R.L. with “Gymps” comes across all bombastic beats and bass, demented and playful organ grind with screaming synth washes buried in the mix, an ace track. Mr Sanders adds some electronic dancehall swagger with crazed synths and bass drops, and Buddy Peace closes with “Crimson Feather Valve” which happily skips between crazy psych rock overload to old-school electro and piano led hip hop instrumental like a mini-mix of Buddy Peace styles, always eclectic.

While Twisting The Frame had a far more focused approach, Twisting The Frame 2 is packed full of creative, eclectic and varied tracks, with many surprises to be had. So open your bandwidth, your ears and your mind, and get online for some Myuzyk now.
