Delroy Wilson - Dub Plate Style

Summer in Australia doesn’ seem complete for me without a batch of new albums from the seemingly limitless vaults of dub reggae. Delroy Wilson would have to be one of my favourite vocalists from his era, having a soft sweet soul vocal style that just seems to fit with relaxing summer afternoons and chilled out summer evenings.

Pressure Sounds are still one of the best reissue labels out there, now giving us twenty classic cuts from Delroy Wilson, remixed by Prince Jammy in 1978, produced by the legendary Bunny “Striker’ Lee.

A great mix of hope and sorrowful songs, but no matter what the message, the feeling is a very uplifting one, whether it’s the joy of “A Bright And Sunny Day” and “You Are Mine”, the retribution of “You Have To Get A Beating”, the pain of “Living In The Foot Steps Of Another Man” and “Here Come The Heartaches”, its uplifting all the way.

Do yourself a favour, forget about your worries, catch up with some friends over a few drinks, and let Delroy Wilson take you to a better place, and while you’re at it, check out so many other excellent reissues on the Pressure Sounds label at www.pressure.co.uk.
