Milosh - iii

As the title suggests, this is the third album for Milosh, Toronto-based Michael Milosh, composed over a year on the tropical Thai island of Koh Samui. Michael weaves a sense of isolation in what could be described as leftfield electronica, a sense of being isolated, away from his usual surroundings, his culture, and all the things he loved.

This album oozes melancholy, with his soulful, singer-songwriter stance, stirring emotions with the lush production of emotive arrangements, delicately deconstructed beats, and intricate micro melodies. Milosh admits this is a very personal record, with sad moments, contradictions in joyous lyrics and somber melodies, or vice versa, but I think people will take their own feeling from the album, and unending sense of positivity, a life-affirming and uplifting feeling. The weeping strings of Another Day really draw you in to his story, so as with Gentle Samui, showing he really is the modern soulman, shackled with confusion and heartache in songs such as Remember The Good Things and Hold My Breath.

A fine listening experience, that once savored, will have you tracking down his first two albums, You Make Me Feel and Meme.
