Las Malas Armistades – Jardin Interior (Psych-O-Path)

Featuring mutant cut and paste artwork, Jardin Interior is the second album from Colombian group Las Malas Armistades. Based in the capital, Bogota, Las Malas Armistades is a loose knit group of friends who met at university and irregularly come together again to collectively write songs and jam around a four track. This great album of naive melodies, twisted psychedelia, loose improvisations and South American sensibilities recalls Os Mutantes, tropicalia and 60s Spanish pop as much as it does current pop experimentalist outfits like Animal Collective. Resolutely lo fi, the intimate songs revolve around sparse drum machines, warbling synths, latin percussion and guitars. Wonderful.
