Kid Koala, everyone’s favourite turntabilist brings his all new 4 deck show on the back of a 5th album (Your Mom’s Favourite DJ) recently released on Ninja Tune. After the release of his first album on Ninja Tune way way back, Kid Koala toured extensively as a member of groups such as Deltron 3030, Lovage, Bullfrog and also as the opening act for international recording artists Radiohead. Since then he has toured Australia in 2004 with RJD2 and then with his Short Attention Span Theater Show in 2005. This time around he returns to perform a whole new set of routines, tricks, and incredible turntable acrobatics – all the while rocking the crowd like no other DJ.

Travelling with Kid Koala and performing on the same night is Amon Tobin, the legendary Ninja Tune drum & bass and abstract breaks producer. With a staggering 7 albums for Ninja Tune since the mid 1990s, Amon Tobin has been chopping up sounds as he says “like regular chickens”. Currently working on soundtracks for video games and a new album for Ninja Tune, Amon Tobin’s last Australian’ tour was captured and released as a Solid Steel session and featured an incredible mashing of genres, sounds and styles.

Joining Kid Koala and Amon Tobin as local support is the acclaimed trio Triosk who have released albums for Berlin’s ~scape label as well as two for UK label Leaf Records. Featuring Laurence Pike (Drums), Adrian Klumpes (Piano/Keyboards) and Ben Waples (Double/Electric Bass) are three improvisers who came together searching for something beyond the conventions of the jazz trio. They continue to look for new ways to combine the sound and unity of purpose of a great piano trio with the textures and processes of minimalism and electronic music. Their third album, The Headlight Serenade is a a masterpiece of underwater electronic jazz.
