Raft is legendary UK guitarist and traveller Mike Cooper’s fourth ambient exotica edition for Room40, a unique mix of electronics and seafaring nostalgia. It’s an album that is inspired by Vital Alsar and William Wills, sailors who undertook some of the 20th centuries most impressive solo voyages, Raft reflects upon the determination of the solo traveller.
This is what Cooper has to say about the album:
“Raft is my tribute William Willis, Vita Alsar, Jack London, Robert Louise Stevenson, Louis Becke, Adolph Plate, Jacque Brel, FW Murnau and to all sailors, scribblers and drifters everywhere.”
We reviewed his previous album, 2015’s gorgeous Fratello Mare. You can read that review here.
We also spoke with him at the time of that release and you can read this very interesting interview here.
