Seifu’s music is a fusion of Ethiopian folk, UK garage & his own dream brew, which he calls “Ethiopian electronic.” Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Seifu attended the French school Lycee Guebre-Mariam as a child, and went on to study music production at Ramapo College of New Jersey. His incendiary debut EP, Yarada Lij, drew from a long list of musical influences including Endeguena Mulu, Ben Neill, Burial, Zion Rebels, and R.F.

His latest EP, Zelalem spotlights the music of Ethiopia’s past as well its future. Mikael Seifu illustrates the potential for reinterpreting sacred and proud sources through energized palettes.
