Womadelaide, the four day/night cultural experience in the Adelaide Botanical Gardens is on again this March with a pretty tasty lineup. We’ve covered the festival for the last 7 years and we hope to be there again this year.

Again it’s a feast for the senses with some incredible music that we’re looking forward to, such as modern nomadic throat singing Chinese rock group Tulegar, South Korean instrumental duo 숨[su:m], legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle, British melting pot Asian Dub Foundation, Mali’s Songhoy Blues, Melbourne party band No Zu, and in particular intense Ukrainian ensemble DakhaBrakha who totally blew our poor little minds in 2011, and Nigeria’s torch bearer of afrobeat, carrying on the legacy of his late father, Seun Kuti who’s appearance in 2009 was the reason we started attending the festival all those years ago.

The full lineup is as follows:
47SOUL, Ainslie Wills, Ajak Kwai, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Alpine, Alsarah and The Nubatones, Angélique Kidjo & The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, APY Choir, Asha Bhosle, Asian Dub Foundation, Australian Dance Theatre, Calexico, The Cat Empire, Cedric Burnside Project, DakhaBrakha, Datãkae, De La Soul, Debashish Bhattacharya, Diego El Cigala, Djuki Mala, Edmar Castañeda Trio, Eska Ester Rada, Hazmat Modine, Husky, Ibeyi, The Jerry Cans, John Grant, Kev Carmody, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Mahsa & Marjan Vahdat, Marcellus Pittman, Marlon Williams & the Yarra Benders, Miles Cleret, Mojo Juju, Mortisville vs The Chief Mountain, Mocha Kilimanjaro, NO ZU, The Once, Orange Blossom, Osunlade, Problems, Quarter Street, Radical Son, Ripley, Sadar Bahar, Sampa The Great, Sarah Blasko, Savina Yannatou & Primavera en Salonico, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Songhoy Blues, Spiro, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, St Germain, The Strides, 숨 [su:m], Surahn, TEK TEK Ensemble, Tulegur, Violent Femmes, Wasted Wanderers, Zeequil.

It’s on between the 11th and 14th of March 2016. More information can be found here.
