Jensen Brewster – My Best Friends Wedding (Frequency Lab)

Fictitious 7 # 4

Number Four in the Fictitious 7 series of digital download only imaginary 7” releases, and I’ve said it before, a great idea, originally championed by Jahtari. The Frequency Lab goes from strength to strength with each release, adding newcomers to the bursting with talent roster.

George Nicholas is Jensen Brewster, studying Time Based Art at The College Of Fine Arts, and is also a member of one of Australia’s best live electronic acts, Seekae. This EP is another prime example of the talent in this country, just waiting to be discovered.

Jensen Brewster drops his bass hard and low, squashed beats, and enough major synth action to put Joker to shame. Glacial gurgles float in the mix, allowing bass and synthesizer mayhem to cause its damage on your speakers. On the (virtual) flipside, the label head Monk Fly adds his magic, raining in the lopping beats, and adding a club friendly bounce, I’d love to hear this in a club.

If you haven’t heard of The Frequency Lab, or the artists on their roster, like Jensen Brewster, Monk Fly, Jonny Faith, 48/8, Roleo, Elliot… You have been sleeping too long. Massive tunes.
