Michna – Magic Monday (Ghostly International/Inertia)

Michna – Magic Monday

Much respected label Ghostly International release this album by New York City producer Michna, responsible for working with SFC, Bonde Do Role and Diplo, creating playful electronics that Urb magazine has listed as one of the “next 100” producers to watch.

Drawing from so many differing sources, from electronica, bass music, jazz, funk, soul, electro, dub, Magic Monday delivers in its diversity, its ability to combine disparate genres, to produce something fresh, uplifting, positive and genuinely creative. Its joy is in the eclecticism, an album that could sit comfortably on many labels such as Static Caravan, Morr, CCO, Awkward Silence, Warp, to name a few. Michna could become your shiny new friend with its playfulness with rhythm, melody and an eclecticism, far outshining the collaborations/productions with SFC, Bonde Do Role and Diplo, this album manages to stand alone, not pandering to any fad or style, but portraying a playfulness that is addictive.
