Hi folks,
I can’t believe Taylor Deupree will be in Melbourne tomorrow. Quite something really.
When I started the Listening Focus series last year I think Taylor would have been very high on my wish list. And thanks to Lawrence English at Room40 that wish is coming true.
Lawrence and I are continuing to work together.. co-presenting a national tour for Ghostly artist Christopher Willits (USA) in June. And there are many more Symbiosis presents on the way.. John Chantler, Derek Holzer & Rob Curgenven, Jason Kahn & Steinbruchel (also a Room40 tour). It will be a great year.
This week’s show featured a chat with Taylor and some sounds from his new Room40 disc, ‘Landing’, alongside a couple of tracks from Solo Andata (WA) and Seaworthy (NSW) who are also playing on Saturday. In the second hour we mostly revisited some older works. However, I was proud to debut a beautiful new piece by Zac Keiller (my collaborator for Umbra at Make It Up club this month plug plug!:). It is based around field recordings from Cherry Lake in Melbourne. Check out his myspace for more.

Wednesday 25th April: I am finally airing my chat with Vitor Joaquim (Portugal, Cronica). We caught up by phone earlier this year to talk about his new release ‘Flow’, on the Cronica label, and his adaptations for live dance of that same work.
