This Sunday spells the final Vertigo session on FBi 94.5 fm. As is the station’s policy and promise to keep things fresh and interesting, some programming changes were made and the slot I was offered was one I could not commit to due to my hectic home life with new baby Miles on board, and my dayjob getting busier by the day.
I want to thank EVERY single person that has listened in over the past 3 years and to all the folks who called in with their best wishes and to the wonderful guests including Aronas, Dylan Baskind (aka Thom North), Damo Suzuki of Can, Wallspace, Telemetry Orchestra, Bill Holt (aka Dreamies), Cortney Tidwell, Vashti Bunyan, Russell Dusting, David and Lucianne Swain, Paul Gough, Brennan Wren, Tony Roma and Astronomy Class.
I’d also like to thank Tim R, Stu Buchanan, Dan Zilber and everyone at FBi for making my time there such a joy to look forward to every weekend. Zilber – thanks for all the great tunes as well.
It will be a very sad day for me on Sunday when the final tune is played, but I had a fucking great time bringing music to the airwaves week in,week out. I honestly believed in every single song I ever played and I hope it inspired people to go out and look beyond the boundaries of whatever bullshit Pitchfork/Hype/Vice Mag/trendy fuck clubnight etc. is being pedalled to the masses this week. As i’ve always believed and encouraged….DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE.
Tune in this Sunday from 7pm (April 1st….no it’s not a prank) for 2 hours of my favourite Vertigo tunes from across the board and throughout my life – sure it’ll be self indulgent, but it’ll be a lot of fun!
Peace out…until we meet again.
Lyndon
PS – stay tuned here for any future developments online or on the air, as well as more music, of couse!
