UK-based electronic producer Powell (described as ‘the 27th most important artist on XL Recordings’) has developed a reputation for doing things on his own terms, and his latest track ‘Frankie (ft. Frankie)’, taken from his upcoming debut album ‘Sports’, released on October 14 is certainly no exception to that rule.
Apparently Powell wrote an entire album at the end of last year and then ended up junking it because he found himself hating the tracks, leading to him crafting this characteristically uncompromising and occasionally jarring collection instead. Powell himself describes it as ‘physical music that you can dance to, which drags your brain along for the ride as well.’
