Brutalist is the new collaborative outfit of LUCIANBLOMKAMP and Seekae’s John Hassell, and ‘Strep’ offers up the first fruits of their labours, and while there are elements present that are familiar from their respective separate ventures, they’ve combined to form a distinctly new whole.
After the two musicians met at a show last year in Melbourne, the Brutalist project was born through a virtual correspondence between the two kindred spirits, with ideas being shared online after John returned to his home in the UK. Supported by the likes of Mixmag, xlr8r, Resident Advisor and Hypetrak, the resulting mixtape is intelligent, introspective music from the exciting new collaboration. The Brutalist mixtape will be out via Good Manners Records on August 26.
